OR, Go to Plymouth Rock on Spanksgiving
16 Nov 2005
If you can't make the New Orleans convergence, http://www.commongroundrelief.org/roadtrip/ ... Come fast, bring the family and a yummy dish to:
36th National Day of Mourning, with United American Indians of New England (UAINE)
Thursday, November 24, 2005 (US "thanksgiving" day), 12-5 PM (rally - march - potluck)
Plymouth, Mass
Or if your family is unfortunately of the delusional, hush-hush Leave it to Beaver type from Pleasantville, leave them behind for a day if you wish, and bring a yummy dish. How will they ever explain your absence to the kids as they celebrate this gluttonous "holiday"? Hopefully the presence of that empty chair will help them feel a little less FULL this year!
from UAINE's website http://home.earthlink.net/~uainendom/ :

WHAT IS NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING?

An annual tradition since 1970, Day of Mourning is a solemn, spiritual and highly political day. Many of us fast from sundown the day before through the afternoon of that day (and have a social after Day of Mourning so that participants in DOM can break their fasts). We are mourning our ancestors and the genocide of our peoples and the theft of our lands. NDOM is a day when we mourn, but we also feel our strength in political action. Over the years, participants in Day of Mourning have buried Plymouth Rock a number of times, boarded the Mayflower replica, and placed ku klux klan sheets on the statue of William Bradford, etc.

There will be a march through the historic district of Plymouth. Plymouth has agreed, as part of the settlement of 10/19/98, that UAINE may march on Day of Mourning without the need for a permit as long as we give the town advance notice.

PROGRAM: Although we very much welcome our non-Native supporters to stand with us, it is a day when only Native people speak about our history and the struggles that are taking place throughout the Americas. Speakers will be by invitation only. This year's NDOM is once again dedicated to our brother Leonard Peltier.

SOCIAL: There will be a pot-luck social held after the National Day of Mourning speak-out and march this year. We anticipate that the hall that we have obtained is not large enough to seat everyone at once. We may have to do two seatings. Preference for the first seating will be given to Elders, young children and their mother/caretaker, pregnant women, Disabled people, and people who have traveled a long distance to join National Day of Mourning. Please respect our culture and our wish to ensure that these guests will be the first to be able to sit and eat. With this understanding in mind, please bring non-alcoholic beverages, desserts, fresh fruit & vegetables, and pre-cooked items (turkeys, hams, stuffing, vegetables, casseroles, rice & beans, etc.) that can be easily re-warmed at the social hall prior to the social. Thank you.

TRANSPORTATION: Limited carpool transportation may be available from Boston. Contact the Boston International Action Center at (617) 522-6626.
There is transportation available from New York City via the International Action Center. Call Marie at 212-633-6646 for more information.

Location:
Cole's Hill, Plymouth, Massachusetts: Cole's Hill is the hill above Plymouth Rock in the Plymouth historic waterfront area.

Directions: National Day of Mourning is held by the statue of Massasoit at Cole's Hill. Cole's Hill is the hill rising above Plymouth Rock on the Plymouth waterfront. If you need directions, use Water Street and Leyden Street in Plymouth, MA as your destination at mapquest.com. That will bring you to within a few hundred feet of Plymouth Rock and Cole's Hill. You can probably find a place to park down on Water Street.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and family. I'll be enjoying a day off, good food and I'll truly be thankful for all that God has blessed me with.
a prayer

god blessed me with blindness, so I can't see how my government kills and tortures, and encourages dictators to kill and torture. god blessed me with the innocence to really believe that I fight wars for the betterment of society and that as long as I do what they say (because god is on the side of my government and their cronies), I'll have the moral courage to ignore the lies. god also blessed me with the ability to live on credit and the heart to thank my government for encouraging me to take care of my own health and education while allowing corporate power to ruin democracy and justice in my country. thank god I don't have to mentally process how my elders built this country on the shoulders of the oligarchy, and that my turkey at some point in history was stuffed with chemicals...

Remember "Anna Mae Pictou Aquash" an awesome Mic Mac women from Boston, who was murdered for fighting for native rights. When the FBI got a hold of her body, they cut off her hands, for what they called an investigation, what I call fucking evil. On thanksgiving please remember this beautiful women.
Just Go.

Turkey Day?
18 Nov 2005
I look at this day of protest? The way we ignore the poverty of many indian tribes throughout our country. Besides stealing their land? Our government has owed many Indian tribes, billions of dollars. These tribes have been dicked around for over 100 years!
Our government can steal billions for Halliburton, Carlyle, and others. Yet, can't pay the original occupants of this fine country? For stealing their land and natural resources!
And people? We're talking about all political parties involved. All are ignoring the real Americans. (Unless you're a casino owner...)
I'm going. Unity for our True American brother and sister is NOW!

home is where the food is
19 Nov 2005
I can't wait to go home to my wealthy, all white family in the suburbs and eat meaty turkey, enjoy being a family, maybe watch some t.v. and think of all those poor souls in Boston who have nothing but the IMC.
Re: OR, Go to Plymouth Rock on Spanksgiving

I think theres nothing wrong with eating turkey on thanksgiving, even If your Red, Yellow, black, and yes white. You can't get away with laughing at the black race anymore(and you shoulden't), but you can stiil get away with making fun of indians. That's what white pigs love about democracy.
Take The Blue Pill.
19 Nov 2005
Focus.
American Indians got robbed, murdered and extinct.
Any questions?
Just do it!

Language here needs to be cleaned up. No one doubts that the Native Americans got the shaft. Not the issue. One day out of the year we come together to celebrate what we are thankful for. Can't we even do that? Let's be thankful and pass the gravy!
Re: OR, Go to Plymouth Rock on Spanksgiving

My Thanksgiving
23 Nov 2005
Tonight we will be assisting with delivering hot turkey dinners to the elderly. Tomorrow morning we are heading north to attend a charity event for the Lazerus House. Great place for families in need run by some truly wonderful people. After we'll be returning to cook our turkey dinner and spend time together.
Best wishes to all on this great holiday weekend!

And, just in case you feel like a little solidarity with your turkey, remember the 36th National Day of Mourning, with the United American Indians of New England (UAINE). See parent article.
