Offensive T-Shirt produced in Boston
Responding to perceived attacks on the Christmas Holiday, Dave Johnson, President of Boston based, New Vision Sportswear, has released a holiday shirt designed to provoke. “It is not our goal to offend anyone but rather to provoke thought” said Mr. Johnson. “People in the workplace are increasingly fearful of publicly honoring their cultural or religious celebrations if they are of the majority culture”. In response to these concerns, New Vision Sportswear has released a T-shirt that declares that the wearer is “Pro-Tolerance, Pro Diversity, Pro-Christmas”.

“The response has been phenomenal” says Mr. Johnson, “we can hardly keep up with the demand”. Cheri Blanchett a High School teacher in Boston has been wearing the T-shirt to after-school functions. Ms. Blanchett observed that “most of the reaction to the T-shirt has been positive, it makes people think”. As a Christian I am not asking anybody to stop observing their faith, just to stop censoring mine”. But Jill Deidrich of the Center for Freedom and Tolerance in Washington DC states her offense to the shirt. “It is not tolerant to push your religion on me”. Tolerant or not, this new Salvo in the “culture wars” is making quite a splash this holiday season.
