Debate Commision Complaint Rejected
03 Oct 2000
The Debates commision refuses to give Ralph Nader or Pat Buchanon a spot in the debates, and now they aren't even accepting complaints... unofficially.
Greetings to everyone in Boston!

Around July 1st I, along with alot of Ralph Nader supporters, began taking the debates commision up on their little 'questions or comments?' link to send them our complaints regarding Nader's exclusion from the debates. I sent two myself, roughly three weeks apart, and two friends of mine did as well. So far, on different machines, different email accounts, different days, this is what we're getting two months later:

"You recently sent an email to the Commission on Presidential
Debates. Due to a technical error, your message was not received.
If you still require assistance, we invite you to resubmit your
message. Simply go to http://www.debates.org, click on "About CPD,"
and choose "Contact the CPD."

Thank you for your interest in the presidential debates."

Can everyone join me in a rousing "yeah, right?"

Due to Tech. Difficulties, We're Ignoring You

Indeed, I can verify it. This morning, I received two different emails from the corporate-sponsored debates commission. They were apparently in response to a pro-Nader email I sent to them several weeks ago. I find it interesting that I'm just now getting the bounced message the morning of the first debate. Oh, so that's why Ralph's not being included. They didn't get our emails. ;-) Notice in the first email that they misspelled their return address. They corrected it in the second email.

Same response

I received the same e-mail this morning in response to my complaint about third party candidates being excluded. my complaint was sent less than a week ago. Interesting that regardless when people e-mailed the commission in recent months that the response is coming out now.
Yup

I got the same response this morning and I sent my e-mail at least a month ago. Hmmm...
Then how'd they get my email address?
03 Oct 2000
I wrote to the CPD, too, maybe a month ago, and also got this message everyone's talking about. I wonder, if they didn't receive these e-mails, how did they know to send out the appologies to everyone? Maybe their HTML forms just sucked, but I suspect the "technical error" was more akin to the "human error" of completely ignoring the complaints. This deserves some investigation and exposure.

Don't be fooled...

I think that they got and looked over all the e-mails. They just send 'em back so that wouldn't have to deal with us. But to hell with rigged debates, and easily ignored e-mails. SHUT THE MOTHERFU-KERS DOWN... ONWARD...
