AP report follows :

Police Fatally Shoot Mass. Teen Driver

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) -- Police shot and killed a 16-year-old boy early Tuesday after he drove a car at them while fleeing the scene of a possible burglary attempt, authorities said.

The two officers opened fire, killing Anthony McGrath, following a high-speed chase that started at a liquor store in Plymouth.

"My son got a death sentence," the boy's mother, Denise McGrath, told reporters. "I want to know who killed my son for no reason at all."

The two officers, whose names were not released, were placed on paid administrative leave. The Plymouth district attorney's office is investigating, police Capt. Michael Botieri said.

The alarm at Richard's Wine and Spirits sounded around 3:20 a.m., and as an officer arrived, he saw a vehicle leaving the area, Botieri said. The officer followed with his lights flashing and was joined by another cruiser, he said.

The driver, McGrath, eventually lost control and hit a wall, Botieri said. The officers ordered him out of the car, but he instead backed into one of the cruisers, then accelerated forward, hitting a utility pole and driving toward the two officers, according to Botieri.

The police opened fire, killing McGrath, who was alone in the car.

"It's a tragedy when something like this happens," Botieri said.

The owner of the liquor store, Steve Berg, said a glass door was cracked. "It looked like somebody struck the door with a rock," he told The Patriot Ledger of Quincy.

Veteran, how can anyone think that breaking a store front window is worth killing someone over? From the account of this kid running into a tree etc. It is absolutely ridiculous that any police officer could feel that his life was threatened. Car's are a little more dificult to manuveur than that. This kid was shot because these policemen didn't want him to get away. We have a brutal ethic in our society that has played out in several cases recently: If you try to flee they will shoot you. The police are terrible detectives, so they kill anyone who tries to run. Anyone who thinks this is OK, is an apoligist for murder. This kid was scared. He's been in trouble all his life and he knows there is no justice once they catch you. So, he tried to get away and they murdered him, in cold blood, for his attempt to be free.

I don't want my windows busted out by some punk anymore than anyone else, but I'll never say that its OK to kill someone for something so trifle. The police are expert liars. All the sociological studies that have been done of them agree. Its not just "radical political theory" or mind numbing bigotry against the establishment. There is no way these policemen could admit a mistake or what really happened. Its to easy to fill out the paper work, stick to the story and walk away. There is no way for them to be honest and keep their jobs and freedom. These guys kill people all the time and they rarely get in trouble. Once you've been beaten or assaulted by a cop, you start to see. Once you've had them lie about you in court you understand. These are not bad apples. This is a corrupt institution from Idaho to Birmingham and in Boston it is horrible.
How many activists have been hauled in on trumped up charges? How many peaceful protests will these pigs turn into violent shoving matches before this country realizes there is a serious problem with police respecting average citizens? In our society, people who screw up suffer dispportionately for their crimes and just makes everything worse. There is a reason we have the highest numberr per capita of people locked up, as well as the highest number of people per capita of people dead by violent crime. We have given a bunch of thugs the right to beat and kill anyone for anything, as long as they have an excuse. qwe have created an environment of fear and have tightened the screws in low income areas that someone is always ready to explode. This kid was murdered because he fled, knowing the pigs are going to fucking ruin his life, or beat the shit out of him, or both, over a store window. We care more about property than humanity.

I think you may be missing some of the story. Read up on it a little more.

Let me give you some assistance with this.

Kid has a history of problems, probabaly stemming from the messed up "home" his "mother" " attempted" to provide. Next he was breaking into a store at 0330 in teh morning. No one in tehir right mmind would attempt that. Most B & E's these days are to fuel a drug habit. Next, he fled from the scene at a high rate of speed and refused to stop for police. He crashed into a tree. The police approached the car, I'm guessing with their weapons drawn which only makes sense. Criminal trys to RUN THE POLICE OVER! Attempted murder of a law enforcement officer with a vehivcle justifies the use of deadly force. Also, I'm sure the police did not have time to, in a polite manner, ask for verification of age prior to almost being killed.

Seems pretty open and honest. next time get some more facts and stop using the term pigs. You sound like an old and ignorant "hippy" who is stuck about 30 to 40 years in the past. Silly boy!

What exactly is it about the --death of a juvenile delinquent who was shot while trying to run over police officers after an attempted burglary-- that has got you people SO riled up that you have to keep reposting this story?

What makes you identify with a waste of human skin such as this?

If you feel so bad, go as a group (which is all you ever do) and burglarize a lot of liquor stores, and then run over a bunch of cops, and then get shot in sympathy. The rest of us just don't identify or sympathize with EVERY DOUCHEBAG who bites it.

A little rough for my taste but I would agree with that!
Personally, I would celebrate if a cop shot Flipside.

I'd throw a party, free drinks and all the rest.

Wouldn't go that far but I think most would agree that if you commit a crime, attempt to flee from a crime, cause property damage and then attempt to run over a police officer - your;e gonna be met with deadly force. Regardless of age or upbringing!
