Re: 3/23 Forum: The Fight to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal

It has been almost 25 years since Pennsylvania death row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal was arrested and charged with the shooting death of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner. His case continues to draw national and international attention due to the denial of due process from judicial bias and police manipulation of evidence at his first trial in 1982. Former Governor Tom Ridge twice signed death warrants for his execution.

He continues to sit on death row at the SCI Greene prison in western Pennsylvania.
Abu-Jamal, a locally and nationally renowned journalist at the time of his arrest, has become the focal point for international protests against the death penalty and racist judicial practices. Demonstrations have been held around the world to call for his freedoml. In Paris, 5,000 rallied at Place de la République to show support for Abu-Jamal. Rallies or support meetings were also held in Madrid, Berlin, Heidelberg, London, San Francisco, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York and other cities.

The Philadelphia media continued its role of distorting the record of Abu-Jamal’s arrest and trial in coverage of the demonstration. The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote that “Abu-Jamal has never directly claimed innocence.” Abu-Jamal has stated his innocence repeatedly over the last 20 years. Most recently, in a sworn deposition on May 4, 2001, he stated, “I did not shoot Police Officer Daniel Faulkner. I had nothing to do with the killing of Officer Faulkner. I am innocent.”

It's interesting that when a "journalist" is caught spying in China, or a "journalist" is caught working with the US Imperialists in Cuba, liberal groups like "Reporters Without Borders" rush to defend them. Abu Jamal was a journalist, and still is, he was specifically targetted because he was an anti-establishment writer.

Another man has signed an affidavid that he was hired to kill Faulkner, he claims he was part of a hit team. Why is his admission of guilt ignored - he says he killed a US cop? Because the powers that be feel they are at war. They don't care who killed Faulkner, Aba Jamal is a bigger prize. So they ignore the real assasin.

Free this innocent man.....

Calling Mumia a pig is an insult to pigs. Mumia should moulder in the grave like the hero that he killed. Hopefully, there is a hell where Mumia will be tormented for eternity. If there is not, then I say that we should keep his sorry ass alive so that he can rot in a prison cell. If there is no hell, death is too good for him. So I say we should keep the bastard alive just in case. A curse be upon him.

hell's full up with dead american 'patriots' who massacred innocent people all over the world. and there's a few nazis and 'communists' too.

seriously i haven't heard any good comeback from the fry mumia people about the guy who confessed to killing the cop, daniel faulkner. his admission not being allowed into the record is the most stunning fact in the whole 25 years of this tragedy. why don't people have any answer to this?
