Drop The Charges Against the Logan 20! Tuesday April 23, 1pm
22 Apr 2002
Modified: 23 Apr 2002
Tuesday, April 23, 1:00 p.m. Boston Federal Courthouse, Fan Pier Tell US Attorney Sullivan: Stop targeting immigrant workers! Drop the charges against the Logan 20!
On February 27, 20 immigrant workers at Logan International Airport were

arrested for allegedly using false information on their employment
applications. Most were cleaning workers paid poverty wages; one woman
was eight months pregnant.

Although the US Attorney has stated that none are suspected of any
connection with the events of September 11 or any other serious crime,
his office is prosecuting them under felony charges that could carry up
to 10 years in federal prison and almost certain deportation.

“Let’s be clear - the decision to bring criminal charges in these cases
is unprecedented. It is also clear that this is only one more of a
long list of attacks that have been leveled against immigrants in an all

out assault since the tragedy of September 11th,” said John
Willshire-Carrera in a statement issued by the National Lawyers’ Guild.

On Tuesday, April 23, 6 of the 20 workers will be arraigned at the
Boston Federal Courthouse. The National Lawyers’ Guild, SEIU Local 254,
Boston Labor’s ANSWER and other organizations will join members of the
defendants’ families to protest the prosecution and demand that US
Attorney Sullivan drop all charges. The protest and press conference
will begin at 1:00 p.m. in front of the Federal Courthouse (Joseph
Moakley Courthouse) on Fan Pier in South Boston (near South Station).
Take the pedestrian bridge behind Rowe’s Wharf.

Join us and show your solidarity for immigrant workers under attack!
