October 4th BUSH PROTEST UPDATE - TIME CHANGE to 11:30AM! (english) |
|
by bkayal |

Modified: 02 Oct 2002 |
The initial time has been changed. Bush is coming to town for a luncheon (so showing up at 6pm is worthless) MEET AT 11:30AM AT THE Northern Avenue (now Moakley) Bridge. (It's between the South Station Red Line stop and the Aquarium Blue Line stop.)

We should be assembling at 11, not 11.30. I'm afraid he'll be gone by the time we get it together. |
Clarification on time (english) |

There are now two websites with conflicting times, one with the initial 6 pm (http://www.justicewithpeace.org), and one with the 11:30 (the one posted on this site)... Is it definitely happening at 11:30?? Maybe someone should tell the justice with peace people if that is the case. |
Thanks, M (english) |

I just mailed them, so I hope that will fix it. Thanks for the tipoff. Who else might have stale info? |

Whoever is announcing the 11:30 thing is being really sketchy, spreading misinformation such as, the announcement for the 6:00 rally was a mistake, that the time has been changed, or that no one is planning to show up at 6:00 anyway so you should probably show up at 11:30.
I'm not with AFSC, but I just got off the phone with them (they're getting lots of calls) and they are still planning the 6 pm thing. They are fully aware that Bush may change his plans and will post it to their web site if they decide to change the time. http://www.justicewithpeace.org/
I don't want to scare people off from 11:30 because I don't know any better than anyone else what is going on - I only know what people tell me. AFSC are people I know and can reach over the phone. The 11:30 info is posted apparently by a group called "Citizens for Legitimate Goverment" which is a web site with no contact information, only anonymous yahoo.com email addresses. This is the only thing I can see about 11:30 - if other people have more reliable-looking sources, they should probably post them.
If you go to 11:30, beware of a couple of things:
1) Organizations that don't play nice with other organizations, by spreading misinformation about their actions and otherwise not acting on the up-and-up, indicating sketchy motives, and
2) pre-emptive arrest. Don't get boxed in. |

Why MISINFORM about the 6pm Demonstration? (english) |
by Amy Hendrickson (No verified email address) |

|
The 6pm demonstration is definitely happening
on Oct 4, organized by United for Justice with Peace.
Very odd that this group has said that it isn't
happening. This is on their site,
``Please note - some earlier notices were circulated putting the time at 6:00 p.m. --
11:30 is the correct time!''
And the pdf flyer above has this incorrect statement:
``(please note time change to 11:30am. Make sure no one is showing up at 6pm anymore)''
Besides being oddly competitive, what on earth was
the motivation for doing this?
People honestly interested in pushing forward the
cause of peace wouldn't try to undermine the efforts
of another group, would they?
I would think the suggestion that people demonstrate
twice that day if they have time would be more
appropriate and useful.
Anyway, we hope that both demonstrations are wildly
successful--
