PROTEST BUSH IN BOSTON - Friday OCTOBER 4TH - 11:30am (english)
02 Oct 2002
Modified: 06:04:48 PM
Bush will be in Boston on October 4th - Come join the unwelcoming committee! Protest assembles at 11:30am
(sorry for the mulitple posts of this. Just want to make sure everyone knows and passes along the correct time)

We plan to gather/assemble at the Northern Avenue (now Moakley) Bridge (It's between the South Station Red Line stop and the Aquarium Blue Line stop.) from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon, and will march to the Seaport Hotel shortly thereafter.

Download updated PDF flyer. And start spreading the message!

Also: Spread the word about the corrected time! (It's 11:30am not 6pm!)

Due to construction you can NOT walk straight down Atlantic to the Moakley Bridge. When you come out of the South Station T stop, walk down Summer Street toward the waterfront. Make a left on Dorchester Ave (one block). You can then make either a left or right onto Congress St. If you make a left, you walk one block and make a right on Atlantic and follow that to the bridge. A more pleasant walk is to take a right on Congress, walk past the Boston Tea Party and the Children's Museum and behind the museum make a left onto Sleeper Street. That is a back way to Northern Ave.

6PM Peace March is STILL ON - Not Rescheduled (english)
02 Oct 2002
Hey all - I just wanted to clarify something. The 11:30am "UnWelcomiong Committe March" is only one of two actions being planned in the area that day. The 6pm Peace March organized by Justice with Peace and American Friends Service Committe is STILL going on. The 6pm march is a permitted march and I just got off the phone with the folks at AFS and they wanted to let everyone know that depsite Bush's change in his schedule, they are planning on proceeding with the 6pm march (seeing as they managed to get through all the red tape to get the proper permits and promote it for 6pm and such). Obviously anyone who can attend both should, but the 6pm March isn't cancelled or rescheduled, it's still on.

Use your own judgement! (english)

Whoever is announcing the 11:30 thing is being really sketchy, spreading misinformation such as, the announcement for the 6:00 rally was a mistake, that the time has been changed, or that no one is planning to show up at 6:00 anyway so you should probably show up at 11:30.

I'm not with AFSC, but I just got off the phone with them (they're getting lots of calls) and they are still planning the 6 pm thing. They are fully aware that Bush may change his plans and will post it to their web site if they decide to change the time.

I don't want to scare people off from 11:30 because I don't know any better than anyone else what is going on - I only know what people tell me. AFSC are people I know and can reach over the phone. The 11:30 info is posted apparently by a group called "Citizens for Legitimate Goverment" which is a web site with no contact information, only anonymous email addresses. This is the only thing I can see about 11:30 - if other people have more reliable-looking sources, they should probably post them.

If you go to 11:30, beware of a couple of things:

1) Organizations that don't play nice with other organizations, by spreading misinformation about their actions and otherwise not acting on the up-and-up, indicating sketchy motives, and

2) pre-emptive arrest. Don't get boxed in.
So much confusion so little time... (english)
02 Oct 2002
The information for the 11:30am march can be found at:

From what I'm told they have been supplied permits for this march. I just got an email from someone working with citizens for legitimate government (the place where I first saw the 11:30 am march) and they said Bush will definately be at the Seaport Hotel around noon for the fundraising luncheon.

This has been the most confusing situation that i have ever experienced when it comes to a march...I'm generally pretty rational and I even thought that the 6pm march was some form of misinformation for a little while...

So as a solution to this problem....

I'm printing up posters that reflect BOTH marches on the same flyer and will be posting them around Boston. I will also include the Boston IMC web address so that people can find additional information and/or changes (so maybe the editors of the boston IMC could put something up in the center column?)

If anyone is interested in helping me spread the word about these TWO events (via handing out or pasting up flyers) feel free to email me so we can get everyone the right information.

I know a lot of people are probably confused right now (I know I am). In an ideal world we could combine both marches into one large one but who knows if that's possible...

I'm not an organizer of either event (and i apologize for any miscommunication). But we have a chance to get a lot of people at these two marches if we get the info out there.

We have the opportunity to show Bush (first hand) that we do not agree with his policies or his war mongering.

I hope this all works out...

I'm attaching a new PDF of a new flyer if anyone has anything to add to this please email me.

Again, email me if you need flyers and we can arrange a drop off point...
