Not Only Did They Protect Gore Supporters...
05 Oct 2000
Not Only did the riot police protect the Gore supporters, but they allowed them to move the line closer to us and pushed us back while Gore supporters widened and widened their side of the street.
Please ask the police in Boston
05 Oct 2000
Please ask the Boston police, why are they facing this direction, and not the other? Why do they protect some, but not others? Why are they taking sides, and not being impartial? Why are they pre-judjing? Why are they protecting the speech of some, but not others?

I didn't witness a single act of agression by a Nader/Green/Other supporter. I DID witness a Gore supporter assault someone with a pole, be abusive to people (trampled all over the Falun Gong area) and throw a full beer can at the person next to me. When the Nader group opted to march from the back entrance to the front, their ranks were completely disorganized by the riot police not giving any indication as to what they wanted the protesters to do or not do. At one point - under the overpass - they were blocking the forward direction and then blocked off the only other direction, the left. No liason to explain that they didn't want a clash between them and the Gore troops (understandable), so the Green group took this for everything it seemed to be - discrimination.

There needs to be a lot more communication. Not only within the group on how to PEACEFULLY bring the influx of viewers to a grinding standstill but communication between the authorities so motives are clear. They have a duty to carry out their mission and we have a duty, an OBLIGATION to make their work interesting. But the police are not the enemy and we need to stop doing things that lend creedence to the marginalization we receive at the hands of both corporations and the media.

Oh, and the IMC rocks nads. =)

Many of the Union members were heavily intoxicated and were looking to fight with - what they considered to be the enemy - Nader supporters. How ignorant can one be? We were all their for the same reason - to restore democracy and help the common man and woman, not big business. Union members, please think next time.
