City Council Vote On Fair Rent Bill tomorrow (english)
19 Nov 2002
Modified: 20 Nov 2002
Boston City Council will vote on proposed Fair Rent ordinance tomorrow at 1 p.m. in City Hall
We expect the city council to vote on the Fair Rent and Tenant Protection Act tomorrow. The session starts at 12:30, and we expect that the vote will take place sometime after 1:00pm. Please come by, even if you are only able to be there for a short while on lunch break. It is, and continues to be, very important that city councilors remain accountable to the realities that we presented to them so well during the hearing last week.
Please continue to call, and do not be dismissed by whatever discouraging words that may come back at you from the other end of the phone. Call. Keep calling. And ask your coworkers to call too.
Wear your T-shirts, and we'll bring the signs. Please call if you have any questions. Hope to see you tomorrow.

Landlords won (english)
20 Nov 2002
The landlords won, as the Council rejected the rent control measure by a 6-4 vote. There was much hadnwringing about the state of Boston rents, but still, they rejected this very moderate measure. Let's find out who voted no and make sure that at least a few of them lose their seats next November.
