Waters Rising Collective - help wanted
22 May 2006
below is an update posted last night. We've been busy these past few days and are looking forward to more work this week... Please give us a call and let us know whenever you are available. We always need extra hands and would love to have ya'll, even for just one day or a couple hours....
Hope you're all well and enjoying this dry sunny weather at last.
The Waters Rising Collective
Here is an overdue update of the past few days at Waters Rising. We've been busy...

On Thursday, we filled a request for 100 bagged lunches for Lazarus House and sent volunteers to support the Bread and Roses Housing Trust.

On Friday, we sent people to Lazarus House to help with clearing out and disinfecting their flooded basement.

Today more volunteers continued to work with Lazarus House. All throughout, other volunteers have been busy managing all the calls and e-mails offering support, working to connect with more groups in need, and organizing food and housing for volunteers.

Our work is ongoing, and we are always looking for more volunteers and more community contacts within the area.

At this time, we have lots of able bodied volunteers to send out and seven pumps available for lending to groups who need them. We also have various cleaning supplies, tools, and safety gear.
Please contact us if your group is in need of these materials.
We also have the ability to make and bring food for distribution or simply to feed those who are helping clean up.

We have a Wish List on the website sidebar

If you would like to send us any of these items, you can e-mail us at newenglandfloodrelief (at) or call if you can donate or loan them; they can be delivered or local pickups can be arranged.

Once again the Lazarus House is getting back on its feet. Many thanks to all my family and friends that helped. They do a great service to the embattled town of Lawrence as well as reaching out to those that needed in after Katrina. Keep up the good work and anyone looking for a great charity to support or a great palce to volunteer at, the Lazarus House is it!

Lawrence needs all the help it can get, not just in times of flooding. First INS needs to go in and conduct their business. The the DEA and ATF. After that, move out what's left, line up some CAT bulldozers and level the the place and rebuild it!

The city of Lawrence is a mess and not just because of the flood waters. Crime is rampant, drugs are everywhere, many individuals that reside there SHOULD not even be in the country and there is a huge lack of parenting going on. Lots of little kids roaming the streets while mommy and daddy are sipping a 40 from a paper bag. A huge clean up effort is needed or at huge wall around it is needed.

It is no secret that Lawrence is in need of a lot of assistance and aid.

More police are needed as well as tougher laws in regards to those that abuse drugs or commit violent crimes. Over time, hopefully, the "good" people will rise up and take back their city. Until then we can just keep on keeping on by helping whenever possible.
Parenting? We Have Parenting.

It's been suggested that Lawrence's people lack "parenting" skills?

I don't know. I much my chchureia and watch a lot of babies led by the hand of girls 12-17. I think there is mucho parenting in Lawrence.

I suggest McDonalds include a package of birth control pills as the toy in ever Kiddie Meal.

When I said "people" I was referring to you all. Nothing ruins a species faster than pointless infighting. YAY XENOPHOBIA! Although I've got to agree with you, when (native) Americans were living in what is now Lawrence, there wasn't ANYTHING wrong with the people. Of course, I presume that you're talking about citizens of the United States of America. In which, you should also realize that "Americans" refers to anybody on these two wonderful continents.

It was a nice surprise to see the National Guard in Lawrence during the flooding. Would have been even nicer to see them taking down the illegals, drug dealers adn useless trash that call it their home. Clean it up and start all over again, that is what is needed!
