The Rich Get Hungrier
22 Jun 2008
The global food problem is not being caused by a falling trend in world production. It is the result of accelerating demand. Amartya Sen teaches economics and philosophy at Harvard and received the Nobel Prize in economics in 1998. His latest book is "Identity and Violence. The Illusion of Destiny."

USAID May Outsource Global Cash-Distribution Function
22 Jun 2008
"Someone in the State Department or at USAID likely already is planning to leave government service and enter the private sector to get that contract," the source said. "That's just how things are at State. 22 Jun 2008
In the U.S. Army's Cyber Operations and Cyber Terrorism Handbook 1.02 I found the following reference to the definition of Cyber Warfare & Terrorism: "the premeditated use of disruptive activities, or the threat thereof, against computers and/or networks, with the intention to cause harm or to further social, ideological, religious, political or similar objectives or to intimidate any person in furtherance of such objectives." Army Turning Trash Into Energy
20 Jun 2008
TGER is small enough to fit into a CONEX container, but powerful enough to power a standard 60-kilowatt generator. TGER works by turning the solid trash into fuel pellets which are fed into a down-draft gasifier. The gasifier then heats the pellets, and breaks them down into a synthetic gas composed of simple hydrocarbons that resembles low-grade propane. TGER processes the liquid and food waste into a hydrous ethanol which is blended with the syngas to create usable energy.

On Thursday 12 June Irish citizens voted to reject the neo-liberal Lisbon treaty. They were alone among all the citizens of the EU states in being allowed a direct vote on the matter.

Over the last weeks the Workers Solidarity Movement has been campaigning across Ireland for a No Vote. 50,000 leaflets have been distributed along with 2,000 posters on top of 20,000 issues of Workers Solidarity.
