On Saturday, August 23rd, Boston will remember the 81st anniversary of the execution of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, two Italian immigrants and committed anarchists whose trial is widely regarded as one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in American history.
We, the undersigned, condemn in the strongest possible terms the recent spate of killings of farmers and farmer-leaders in Masbate, perpetrated by individuals identified as belonging to the local command of the New People’s Army.
The stock market- and real estate-bubble occur in advanced capitalism. The government response was to create a second bubble, the great bubble transfer. The real estate bubble crashed last summer. John Bellamy Foster teaches at the University of Oregon and is editor of Monthly Review.

McCain suggested that military strategies currently employed by US
troops in Iraq could be applied to high crime neighborhoods here in
the US. McCain called them tactics 'somewhat like we use in the
military...You go into neighborhoods, you clamp down, you provide a
secure environment for the people that live there, and you make sure
that the known criminals are kept under control. And you provide them
with a stable environment and then they cooperate with law
enforcement.' The way he described it, his approach sounded an awful
lot like the surge. As part of his argument, McCain praised the
crime-fighting efforts of former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.....
