President George W. Bush took the country into the Iraqi War based on a policy of lies. It has cost the lives of an estimated 30,000 to 100,000 Iraqis. Since 2001, Bush has ordered the National Security Agency (NSA) to spy on the American people under the guise of catching terrorists. He arrogantly ignored a secret court, the FISA Court, which was set up for that purpose. Bush acts like a mad Roman emperor; he’s as whacky as a Caligula or a Nero. |

President Bush eliminated the need for warrants for NSA bugging jobs, but when the warrants are as easy to get as they are in the FISA courts, the only reason he’d do that is to keep the taps completely secret. And why would he want to do that? |

Chelsea Gerlach was arraigned on new indictments today in Federal Court. She currently faces 290 years in a federal prison if convicted of all charges against her. This is my report.

Dr. Berhanu Nega, a democracy activist, was jailed by the Ethiopian government several weeks ago following his involvement in mass protests over election irregularities in Ethiopia. Nega and 57 other democracy activists have been imprisoned on charges of treason, a crime punishable by death in Ethiopia. Human rights group Amnesty International has declared Nega and the other arrestees "prisoners of conscience," or prisoners imprisoned solely for the peaceful expression of their beliefs. |
