US Crisis Sends Europe's Housing Market into Free Fall
12 Feb 2008
Investor George Soros sees the worst economic crisis since the Second World War as the aftermath of heavy debts and the credit crunch. Speculative greed for profits and contempt for whistle-blowers led to the banking crisis. Will there be system correction or mere cosmetics?

What is Class Struggle Anarchism
11 Feb 2008
Part 1: Reasons for a working class perspective. What is wrong with a nonclass perspective. Rooting class struggle anarchism in an analysis of capitalism, a strategic orienation, and a moral perspective.

Part 2: Why do we call ourselves class struggle anarchists instead of feminist- antiracist-Gay liberationist-green-class struggle anarchists? What is the relationship among class and nonclass forms of oppression, such as gender and race? Instead of the base/superstructure metaphor, we should a model of an overlapping network of oppressions, of which class is at the center. This leads to strategic conclusions.

Middle East Nuclear Holocaust to Defend "The Western Way of Life"
11 Feb 2008
Modified: 12:24:44 PM
The Western media is involved in a diabolical disinformation campaign, the purpose of which is to persuade public opinion that the only way to "create a nuclear free World" is to use nuclear weapons on a preemptive basis, against countries which "threaten our Western Way of Life." We are a dangerous crossroads: military planners believe their own propaganda. The military manuals state that this new generation of nuclear weapons are "safe" for use in the battlefield. They are no longer a weapon of last resort. There are no impediments or political obstacles to their use.

Billiards for Justice
10 Feb 2008
Are you looking for like-minded progressives to hang out with in Boston? Want to cross-promote your events and campaigns? Are you new to the area and looking for groups to get involved in? Are you psyched about building strong cross-issue coalitions?
Join Socializing for Justice (SoJust) for Billiards for Justice - Wednesday, February 13th at 6:30PM

No program. No speaker. Just arrive and enjoy yourself.

RSVP (greatly appreciated!) at - newcomers always welcome!

We're heading to Sacco's Bowl Haven in Davis Square for some cue and pocket action. We'll have a couple of tables reserved for the pool sharks, but plenty of non-billiards hanging out as well (not to mention candlepin bowling in the very next room!)

At SoJust events you can hang out with friends, make new ones, find a date, get the scoop on a job, and find out what's going on this weekend - political or social. And the best part is that SoJust members share your vision of building a more just world.

If you're involved with a group or project and want to spread the word bring flyers to share - and there'll be lots of opportunity to schmooze and network in between rounds at the table.

Sacco's Bowl Haven is at 45 Day Street in Somerville. It is right by the Davis Square T Station on the Red Line.

$5.00 to play + $2 group fee to cover expenses.

From our FAQs:
"It's not very easy for me to meet new people and I'm not really one for small talk."
We hear you. That's why at SoJust events, in addition to traditional name tags, we have "Ask Me About" and "Looking For" tags. That way you can slap whatever you're into lately up on your shirt and wait for fellow SoJusters to approach you. These seem to do the trick of moving past the basic "where do you live? what do you do for work?" questions to conversations that lead to more substantial connections.

"What actually happens at events?"
You'll always be greeted by friendly folks who can help get you socializing, introduce you to people, and chat with you about questions or wishes. It's likely a few people will be there promoting their campaigns and issues (yes, SoJust welcomes that sort of behavior). At our bigger events, there's always a literature table to toss down flyers, postcards, and other paraphenalia about events around town. Most importantly, we can pretty much guarantee there will be someone there you've never met before. As one of our members said, "You are bringing together people who might never get together otherwise - if that ain't a step towards justice I don't know what is."
