It is an axiom of Marxist class politics that the ruling class’s foreign policy is a direct extension of its domestic policy. Put simply, this means that their wars abroad are a continuation of their war at home—the war to enforce exploitation and oppression. |

Speaking Out Against the BU Bio-Terrorism Lab in Roxbury:Speaking Out Against the BU Bio-Terrorism Lab in Roxbury:
The Coalition to Stop the BU Bio-Terrorism Lab in Boston is holding a community SPEAKOUT!
Wednesday November 2, 2005
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
City Hall Plaza
Cambridge, MA (October 21, 2005) — Speak Out! will set up shop in Boston's government center to let community members and elected officials know the actions taken by BU and various supporters of the Lab are shortsighted, reckless and unjust. Those who oppose the lab believe the entire process is undermining the city's public health and safety and aggravating issues of environmental justice. "A week before the election, Speak Out will send a message to our elected officials that this lab should not and cannot be built in Boston," said Eva Skillicorn from Boston Mobilization.
Approximately twenty-five speakers will provide their own perspective on the lab with topics ranging from concerns over safety and procedure in the face of an outbreak to issues of environmental justice, as a disproportionate number of environmental hazards exists in the Roxbury/South End communities. For example, Roxbury has the highest rate of childhood asthma in the state and more hazardous waste sites than any other part of the city, according to lab opponent Patricia Hynes of the BU School of Public Health.
Speakers will include scientists, politicians, concerned citizens, and there will be artistic performances. In addition, participants and passer-bys can partake in activities range from taking pictures in hazmat suits to contacting their elected officials via cellular telephone. Those interested are also encouraged to express to their skepticism, disappointment or rage into a video camera to keep a record of all those opposed to the lab.
