LibertyWalk 2008: A 4,913 Mile Walk For The United States Constitution |

In 2008, the LibertyWalk group will walk 4,913 miles, or 26.5 miles per day, for the United States' constitution and liberties, in the shape of a star, symbolizing "hope." The money raised during the walk will go towards local charities nationwide. The event will begin on New Year's Day and end on the Fourth of July, crossing 20 states in 185 days. |

(HFI), a non-profit organization serving the Greater Boston area by working with homeless families and their children, will be hosting a gala event, A Family Affair, to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The Sloane Family, founders of Century Bank and long-time HFI supporters, are serving as the event chairs; and Edward A. Fish, the Fish Family and Peabody Properties, Inc., major developers of affordable housing throughout Massachusetts, will receive the first ever Home At Last award. |

Millions of workers and students on strike: report of the first 12 hours of the May 2 strike
Just six months after Calderon assumed the presidency and the anti-fraud movement and the APPO were defeated, the situation in Mexico is heating up again. The previous showdown over the elections and the revolutionary struggle in Oaxaca solved nothing. The bourgeois, foolishly, perhaps believed that the working class was finished, and that the struggle was over. They will not be able to maintain that opinion any longer.
Carrying on from the magnificent struggles in March against the attacks of the weak Calderón government, a general strike was called earlier this week on May 2 - the first general strike in Mexico since 1916.
We publish here a brief report on the May 2 strike, as well as a longer article analysing the situation just before the strike. Further reports will be published in the coming days. |

As a result of the Bush-Cheney Gang’s insane “Surge” strategy, 1,300 Maryland Nation Guard members will be deployed to the hell hole that is Iraq. On May 3, 2007, in Baltimore, a rally was held to protest that action. Maryland State Del. Jill P. Carter blasted U.S. Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin for funding the war and then saying that they wanted to “protect the troops.” She called that bizarre conduct: “politically schizophrenic.” |
