A rowdy group of 60-70 Radical Queers gave avid convention goers and curious onlookers some things to think about during a "Kiss- In" at Fanieul Hall yesterday. At around 6:30 PM, while nearby TV's pumped out convention coverage, Radical Queers shouted slogans like "Keep your laws off my body", "we're here, We're queer, and we want your children". and "Ten Percent is not enough" and kissed each other passionately. |

Billy Bragg and Friends Rock the Middle East |
by Arthur Hilson Rviscio (nospam) aol.com (unverified) |

|
On Saturday, July 24th, Billy Bragg and company showed up at the Middle East Cafe for a four hour shindig. The event was a fundraiser for the Boston Social Forum taking place that weekend and was attended by 500 screaming fans.
Bragg, who played two sets was joined by the Foundation, the Reagan Babies and the Acid Reggae Experience for the show.
It was a unique sound sensation as the working class folk rock of Bragg was followed by the Hip Hop beats of the foundation and the folk/blues/punk of the Reagan Babies. The political message was clear: "Another World Is Possible." Local favorites the Reagan Babies took this to heart engaging the crowd in a high energy set with all new tunes that proclaimed "The King bleeds oil" and "Resistance is a fine wine." Before they settled down with "American Mess" (which included a stage dive by the Campbell's Soup Boy model) the Babie's Eddy Dyer had his pants off and was dancing a russian jig.
Acid Reggae Experience closed out the night with some mellow..well, you got it- Reggae. It was the perfect come down. |
