Homeless protest for food in Brockton

BROCKTON — Claiming city leaders and those aspiring to be city leaders are ignoring their needs, more than a dozen homeless people stood on Main Street Monday hoping to get noticed. "We're trying to get Gracie's and Strictly Sober reopened," said Robin Burns, 42, homeless since May 27.

The Bush-Cheney Gang gave the store away in the so-called “Energy Bill.” It granted $4 billion in tax breaks to Big Oil, despite the fact that ExxonMobil had profits of $24 billion last year! Now, environmentalists rallying in Washington, D.C., on 09/20/05, suspect that parts of the pristine Arctic Wildlife Refuge will soon be opened up to oil drilling. At the protest, RFK, Jr., labeled George Bush: “The worst environmental president in U.S. history!”

Due to Hurricane Katrina, the Houston Anarchist People of Color organizers announce postponement of the Anarchist People of Color Conference that was to be held October 7-9th in Houston. The conference will still occur this March. In the meantime, Houston APOC is organizing in their local communities around Hurricane Katrina relief and accepting cash and supply contributions in solidarity with these efforts to be distributed to people of color grassroots community centers in Houston.
