This conference was about reformist politics, academic speech, and money. Reformers are generally people that recognize that a problem exists, and use their dollars and sense to rectify that problem. These people exist everywhere. Kansas City: Anarchist anti-war protest rocks Plaza

This afternoon, at 4 pm next to the J.C. Nichols Fountain on the Plaza (47th & J.C. Nichols Pkwy), the liberal peace rally occurred as usual. However, this time a group of twenty anarchists--with bandanas masking their faces--showed up to provide an alternative: radical direct action protesting the Iraq War.

In the 2000 presidential election, the poorest county in the U.S. voted to support George W. Bush for president! It voted against its own “economic” interests because Bush stood for “family values.” The influence of the Religious Right extends far beyond ultraconservative politics to economics as well. Its advocacy of an unregulated “Free Market,” is bringing the U.S. to its knees, as our manufacturing jobs continue to flee overseas.

a small group of ardent bicyclists and experienced media activists are compiling a VideoZine about the Critical Mass maelstrom. We need your help. We are working to document repressive interference in the rides from police and bystanders, as well as the response of the riders to that interference, in order to develop a broader analysis of how these events are connected, as well as to share resources and strategies for organizing around the repression. We will be traveling to cities whose critical mass bike rides have, in the past ten years, encountered repressive interference from police, motorists, or media.
