A diverse coalition of environmental health, nuclear weapons, toxic waste and peace organizations released a Blueprint of Precautionary Actions to prevent nuclear weapon hazards in the U.S.

The Boston Social Forum in the media

The coverage of the Boston Social Forum in mainstream newspapers is telling about the state of the American media. There were more mentions in major foreign papers (5 in major Italian papers, 2 in French ones, according to the NEXIS database) than in American ones - a mere 3 mentions, all of them in the Boston Globe. The first European Social forum in Florence, by contrast, received thoughtful coverage in more than 2,000 stories in papers of all orientations all over Europe. It's notable that the most extensive report on the BSF by any major newspaper (though one affiliated with the Communist party) was in France.

Continental Social Alliance decides its own re foundation

Gathered in Quito, at the Americas Social Forum, the Hemispheric Council of the Continental Social Alliance has decided to remove the opposition to the FTAA from its foundational declaration, as one of its main goals. After analyzing the international scenario as well as evaluating the impact of its actions, delegates from all the American countries and the most important social organizations of the continent, decided the “fight against the FTAA” would become a “fight against free trade”.
