R2K Defendant Acquitted of Felonies; Convicted of Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief

The first felony trial from the Republican National Convention protests concluded Monday as Kate Sorensen was acquitted of three felony charges and convicted on the reduced charge of Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief. The trial revealed the lengths to which the District Attorney is willing to go to silence dissent.

Police Monitoring Anarchist Groups from Boston

By Friday, police had received several calls from other agencies warning
them about possible "agitation" from various protest groups, including
anarchist organizations called the Barricada Collective and the Sabate
Anarchist Collective. Both groups were believed to be behind protests at
January's presidential inauguration in Washington, Dortenzio said.

Vatican Bank Sued For Alleged War Crimes

In apparently the first legal action of its kind, the Vatican Bank has been sued
by World War Two victims and their heirs and beneficiaries.

Brought as a class action in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco,
the initial plaintiffs are Ukranians and ex-Soviet citizens but the affected
class includes Serbians, Roma, anti-Fascist Croatians, and Jews.

Dortenzio said his department was notified about the anarchist groups by Boston police, who have been monitoring the groups since they protested alleged sweatshop practices in city businesses last year.
