Over 3,000 protesters decend upon the UMASS Boston campus. At 9 pm, as the debate begins inside, they decide to cross over the barricades peacfully. The police respond with batons, pepper gas and horses.

In the wake of the huge protests in Boston against the two party debates, the national communications conglomerate, Verizon, is suing all liable protestors with trademark infringement. At many instances during the many street demonstrations and direct actions that occurred on October 3rd in Boston many protestors were seen waving the registered "V" hand gesture of Verizon at many points during the day.
