During October's government "shutdown" right-leaning news outlets went to some lengths to convince their readers that the whole thing really wasn't any big deal. A representative effort from Forbes pointed out that the financial effect on government workers would be minimal and that the government could struggle along for a few weeks after its self-imposed debt ceiling deadline without actually defaulting.
The capitalist system in its current form is no longer fit for today's world. The system that led us into crisis has long been outdated. The brave new world of neoliberalism lies in ruin. Its riches proved to be robbery, appearance and deceit. The promised freedom has become general insecurity.
