Kagame arrests

Bernard Ntaganda, Rwandan opposition presidential candidate, and Didas Gasana, Editor of Rwanda's banned newspaper, Umuseso, spoke to KMEC Radio on April 18th. Gasana has since fled to Uganda and Ntaganda was arrested in Kigali this morning.
Last night Ntaganda put out an urgent message that his assistant, Mr. Sibomana Rusangwa Aimable, had disappeared at 8 p.m., after a meeting held at the head office of P.S.Imberakuri in which the Party had decided to organize demonstrations today, June 24th, 2010.

On Monday, May 26, Ugandan Bishop Christopher Senyonjo, fondly known as Bishop Christopher, spoke to a circle gathered round him at San Francisco’s African American Art and Culture Complex. He explained his counseling work with LGBT youth, his advocacy for LGBT rights and his opposition to Uganda’s infamous proposed Anti Homosexuality Act, a.k.a., “Hang-the-Gays” bill, which has caused alarm at the Western Christian Right’s globalization of the culture wars. And, he explained Article 13, the one section of the act still likely to be written into law, which would make way for wholesale human rights abuse.

The Gulf Oil Spill Will Change Nothing

As is typical with U.S. politicians and media, an extremely serious topic has nearly been reduced to absurdity. Once the urgency of the Gulf oil eruption has been fully sterilized, the stage will be set for business as usual politics — with the corporations comfortably in the driver seat.



But the corporate establishment cannot act too quickly in its fervor to drop the topic.



The environmental destruction brought on by corporate greed has opened the eyes of millions in the U.S. — eyes that are struggling to stay open as they now face the enormous sleep-producing machine of the mainstream media.

Problems with Nuclear Power highlighted by Gulf Disaster

Nobody’s perfect, and so mistakes do happen. But just as we couldn't conceive of our ongoing oil disaster in The Gulf, perhaps we are equally unable to appreciate the potential for a nuclear power mishap. While optimism is important, it’s sometimes a trap – just ask BP.
