Australian Special Forces have today surrounded the 'rebel' Major Alfredo Reinado in occupied Timor-Leste; it seems Reinado has passed his use-by-date; a tense stand-off presently exists with Reinado threatening to shoot any Australian soldier who ventures too near. |

First Cohort of Patients Completes Clinical Trial of Intravenous Vitamin C for Cancer Treatment |
Submitted by: Cancer Treatment Research / 28 Feb 2007
Publisher: Cancer Treatment Centers of America
|
The first cohort of patients has completed the intravenous vitamin C trial at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), said Christopher G. Lis, vice president of research and development at CTCA.
The study started in the late fall, and, thus far, three patients have completed the treatment regime of infusions of high doses of vitamin C four times a day for four weeks, said Lis. Researchers are seeking a total of 18 patients for the trial, which has received approval as an investigational new drug trial, non-commercial from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Taking the work of Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling to the next level, researchers are eyeing the impact of high doses of intravenous, or in the vein, Vitamin C on cancer. The study is being led by Dr. Christopher M. Stephenson, an internal medicine specialist at CTCA Midwestern, Dr. Robert D. Levin, chief of medical oncology at CTCA Midwestern, and Christopher G. Lis, MPH, vice president, research and development, CTCA.

Forgive the ads, but this is worth seeing. If anything, to see a journalist doing a good job interviewing and providing a safe space for American soldiers to speak about Iraq. |

Not ONE Member of the Bush Extended Family Has Served in Iraq! Not One! |
Submitted by: @ / 26 Feb 2007
Publisher: BuzzFlash
|
|
Yet, not one -- not one -- of any of Bush's children or his nieces and nephews have volunteered for service in any branch of the military or volunteered to serve in any capacity in Iraq. Not one of them has felt the cause was noble enough to put his or her life on the line... |

When Superpowers go Rogue |

History records instances of powerful, belligerent nations invading and annexing weaker nations in their bid for world domination and plunder. Various pretexts are utilised to justify these attacks/invasions, the most familiar and infamous are the USS Liberty attack, the Tonkin Gulf incident and more recently the imaginary WMD 'threat'. These examples have one thing in common; they are all orchestrated in order to harness the public as a manageable resource to be used and abused by prevailing powers and to justify an otherwise illegal invasion or military aggression. Nations bent on world domination are extremely predictable; world domination is the folly of a powerful military and inept leadership -- history is familiar with a multitude of conquering clowns known to us today as mass murderers. |

The US psychological torture system is finally on trial |
Submitted by: @ / 24 Feb 2007
Publisher: Guardian

Something remarkable is going on in a Miami courtroom. The cruel methods US interrogators have used since September 11 to "break" prisoners are finally being put on trial. This was not supposed to happen. The Bush administration's plan was to put José Padilla on trial for allegedly being part of a network linked to international terrorists. But Padilla's lawyers are arguing that he is not fit to stand trial because he has been driven insane by the government... |

The cat is out of the bag. From a mainstream newspaper:
"Affidavit: McVeigh had high-level help
According to Oklahoma bombing conspirator, ranking officials were involved in the attack"
By Pamela Manson, The Salt Lake Tribune
Oklahoma City bombing conspirator Terry Nichols says a high-ranking FBI official "apparently" was directing Timothy McVeigh in the plot to blow up a government building and might have changed the original target of the attack, according to a new affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Utah."
