One could almost feel sorry for highflying, right wing, media types who derive a living from exploiting the lowest aspects of human nature. But there is 'no love lost' around here and I imagine anywhere else. Media moguls are getting a taste of life at the receiving end, perhaps they may think twice before making IRRESPONSIBLE racist, vilifying comments at the expense of those in the least position to defend themselves. The results of negative media hype and racist remarks include foul abuse levelled at you, your wife and kids in public; being spat on for no reason other than your skin colour or religion, and the ugly culmination of all racist behaviour, the race riot (Cronulla, 2005). Are we sorry the purveyors of social division and slur are experiencing frustration at the lack of recourse and remedial action available to them -- not on your life? |

Rush Holt Tuesday afternoon renewed his call for the FBI to brief Congress on the status of its investigation into the still unsolved mailed anthrax attacks of 2001 and to explain why no one has been prosecuted in the case yet. "Three dozen bipartisan members of the House and the Senate have asked for briefings so that we (Congress) can do our oversight role. Despite all of that, we have been stonewalled," Holt, D-12, Hopewell Township, said during a news conference with various U.S. Postal Service union leaders next to a couple of postal drop boxes. A different drop box at another location on Nassau Street had tested positive for anthrax in August 2002, almost a year after the mailed anthrax attacks from the fall of 2001, which killed five people, sickened at least 17 others and terrified the nation. That tainted drop box was taken out of service in August 2002. Four anthrax-laced letters postmarked Sept. 18, 2001 were routed through the Hamilton Post Office on Route 130, which serves as the Postal Service's regional distribution center for the greater Trenton-Princeton area. National Fascist Director Mike McConnell Wants More Power to Spy on You |

The changes McConnell is seeking mostly affect a cloak-and-dagger category of warrants used to investigate suspected spies, terrorists and other national security threats. The court-approved surveillance could include planting listening devices and hidden cameras, searching luggage and breaking into homes to make copies of computer hard drives. |

The Military's New Africa Command |

Joint Chiefs Chairman Peter Pace said that the new Africa Command will not be a clone of the other traditional commands. Because Africa is more of a development challenge than a security challenge, General Pace envisages a greater emphasis on interagency cooperation to “build African capabilities to effectively govern.†Pace described Africa as the “king of ungoverned areas.â€
General Pace also said that “the last thing the US wants is to send troops to Africa.†This is unusual for a combattant command whose main role is to plan for military deployment. Apparently, the Africa Command will be planning how not to deploy.
What we can expect from the new Africa Command is a major emphasis on “hearts and minds†as opposed to military action. This will require active interagency coordination, especially among State Department, DOD, and USAID, all of which have sources of funds for a variety of development and military training activities... |

Bicyclist Killed on Huntington Ave |

BOSTON -- A bicyclist was killed in Boston Wednesday after being run over by a dump truck, police said. The bicyclist, a 22-year-old man from Halifax, was riding between two lanes of traffic on Huntington Avenue when he was clipped by a taxicab near Northeastern University at about 2:30 p.m., police said. After being clipped by the cab, the bicyclist was run over by a McCauley and Sons Co. dump truck, police said. "It looked like the cab clipped the bike's back wheel and the bike got knocked under the truck's back wheels. After that, the truck kept going, the cab pulled over and I saw the bike rider just face down," said witness J.D. Ferry. Police said the dump truck driver and the cab driver are cooperating with the investigation. So far, no charges have been filed. The victim's name was not released pending notification of his family. He was a 2006 graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art. |

Imagine coalition leaders recoiling in horror at the prospect of facing the truth that they are the most criminally liable and culpable terrorists in the world today! Former Secretary General of the UN, Kofi Annan, proposed that in order to effectively combat terrorism a universal definition of 'terrorism' would be imperative. A ratified definition would have eliminated politically motivated, arbitrary definitions made by various groups/States in order to accuse others. In the absence of a definition the legal system and International criminal courts are 'hamstrung' or worse, subject to manipulation by powerful (criminal) interests. |

When the Cameras Begin Yelling at You |

The United Kingdom has begun equipping the nation's 4.2 million government cameras with loudspeakers:
“People are shocked when they hear the cameras talk, but when they see everyone else looking at them, they feel a twinge of conscience and comply,'’ said Mike Clark, a spokesman for Middlesbrough Council who recounted the incident. The city has placed speakers in its cameras, allowing operators to chastise miscreants who drop coffee cups, ride bicycles too fast or fight outside bars."
Big Brother knows best. Clearly, privacy and liberty are worth sacrificing for a dropped coffee cup.
How long until this technology makes its way across the Atlantic?
How long before Democrats and Republicans alike get to prove their "toughness on crime" by wholeheartedly endorsing it?
And the mainstream media can commence not even covering it?
When do people finally say, "No"?
